果然，配带宝箭的儿子英勇非凡，所向披靡。儿子再也禁不住得胜的豪气，完全背弃了父亲的叮嘱。他拔出宝箭，试图看个究竟。骤然间他惊呆了：箭囊里装着一支折断的箭。“我一直挎着这支断箭打仗呢!”儿子吓出了一身冷汗，仿佛顷刻间失去支柱的房子，意志轰然坍塌了。后来，儿子惨死于乱军之中。

人唯自助，方能攀人生高峰，成不朽伟业。居里夫人一直积极奋战于科学的道路上，生活困顿，饥寒交迫，工作繁重，无人理解。但她并不为这些而自怜自哀，更不因质疑而退缩不前。
顽强的居里夫人，靠自己的双手搅拌着成吨的沥青，从中发现了金子般珍贵的镭元素。如果不是她自强自助的精神支撑她前行，又怎会有她自我价值的实现和科学上新的突破孑然一身的居里夫人身影那样单薄，她自助者的形象却是如此丰满。
天行有常，不为尧存，不为桀亡。成败进退，本不该依赖天命外物，而应将命运的缰绳握在自己手中。玄奘经八十一难让佛教真经流传，保尔瘫痪失明而革命理想实现，正是凭借这自助的觉悟，使他们在人生险途上驰马扬鞭，击碎命运，击碎软弱。
反观当下，许多人忘了生命中娇艳的花要自己浇灌，让外物定夺自己的生活，年轻力壮，却在家中“啃老”度日；手脚健全，竟在路边乞讨为生。殊不知，这是对自己的失责，对生命的浪费。作为当代青年，我们可大有作为，无往不胜的锦囊要亲手开启，所向披靡的宝箭其实就是我们自己。
