(1)学习过程指学生获得、保持和应用知识、技能与道德规范的过程，在教育心理学中，人们研究最早和最多的就是这一过程，这些研究结果构成了学习／动机理论。各家各派学习理论之争也都集中体现在对学生学习过程的解释上。
(2)教学过程指教师把知识技能以有效的方法传授给学生并引导学生建构自己知识的过程。教育心理学对教学过程的研究比起对学习过程的研究起步要晚，目前已逐渐形成了一套完整有效的教学理论。
(3)评价和反思过程既可在学习过程和教学过程之后作为一个独立的部分，又可贯穿在学习过程和教学过程之中。它是对学习和教学效果进行的测量、评定和反思，以求进一步改进的过程。
这三个过程交织在一起，相互影响。学习过程受教学过程影响，教学过程要围绕学习过程进行、并且通过学习过程而起作用，评价反思过程随学习过程和教学过程而变化，反过来又促进学习和教学过程。同时，这三种过程都受教学过程四种变量的影响。
