青少年学生在吸取社会和教育影响的活动中，不仅是被影响、被教育的对象，而且是能动地吸取环境和教育影响的主体。外界的影响只有通过学生内部的思想情感活动，才能被他们所理解、选择和吸取，成为他们自己的观点、需要和追求。这样社会影响才能转化为学生个人的品德。在德育活动过程中，学生是能动地吸取教育影响的。
②道德活动是促进外界的德育影响转化为学生自身品德的基础。
从根本上说，外部的教育影响转化为学生的内在品德，只能在学生与外在社会相互作用的活动中实现，而不可能在他们处于静态中进行；而道德活动则是促进德育影响转化为学生品德的基础。
③进行德育要善于组织、指导学生的活动。
在德育过程中，既要组织学生积极参与各种教育活动，又要引导学生自觉进行个人内部的道德修养活动，使两者联系起来，相互促进。这样，才能引导学生的品德能动地得到发展。
